Not picking on you Brad, you know I like you, but alot of hosts do this and it just doesn't seem fair that new customers get something better than customers who have been loyal.
Well, it's a delicate balance. If you were to speak with most of my long term customers you would find that over time every one of them has been given increases in their bandwidth allowance or decreases in their monthly rate. I've always done this pro-actively and based on my observance of how every hosting competitor operates this is something that others don't do unless asked. I'm not omnicient, I simply make my best effort, but 8 times out of 10 it's been me doing this over the years moreso than clients requesting changes... and I think that's admirable.

Another thing to consider is that for most of our customer accounts that fall into medium and larger spends they predominately receive free hardware upgrades and for some free additional servers when their business grows and needs it.

If we're known for anything, it's really for taking care of our established customer base. I'm not all-knowing, but we really do make some extraordinary efforts to upgrade and assist our clients while they are growing their business.

From a business perspective running specials is quite a common practice in every industry. It's actually new to me, in large part a marketing experiment. We have always just sold at a good every day price. The goal is always to generate new business and sales and find incremental gains. The specials I've offered are available to established customers that want to add on to what they're doing so it's not at all like they're out of reach.

The more new business we bring on whether it is through specials or every day pricing, the greater our ability to continue passing discounts and extra value back to our customers which is something we have a rich history of doing. Even two of the posters in this thread recently received free add-ons to their accounts, one got 100 megabit added to their allowance and another received 50 and neither asked me for it - they just got a surprise email.
