I didn't like certain things at first but then really came to enjoy it. Keep in mind I'm a keyboard advocate. I HATE using the mouse when there should be a better keyboard method. Turns out if you spend a little time learning power user things you can actually use the keyboard for a lot more things than you can on the PC. If you are a keyboard power user like me definitely check out Quicksilver for the Mac. It is a god send. Other advantages include the fact that it is unix. As a web developer it is a much better environment to run unix when you are developing unix.
Photography workflow I think is better no the PC. I haven't found anything to reliably rotate JPGs out of the camera to the correct orientation. Not a problem with the Mac but when sharing with PC they always show up with the wrong orientation. I really liked Capture One Pro on the PC. Especially the keyboard shortcuts. On the Mac you have to use the mouse as far as I can tell for converting RAWS. My photography workflow is much slower on the Mac. Maybe with more research I will be able to make it go faster but as it stands right now I miss using PC for that.
So there are pluses and minuses. Depends on what you are doing. The main advantage is that you can dual boot it so for about the same price (for high end systems) you can always run Windows if you don't like it.

Have you tried
Iview Multimedia?
Used to be independently owned but MS got a hold of it. May be a plus to you but for me its the kiss of death.
