I work a lot with little girls who are struggling with self image issues. Most all of them think they are fat even tho they are almost always far from it. When I do have a kid that is actually fat chances are they have gone through years of being called names and the like and they are only pre-teens yet.
All I can do it show them that you don't have to wait to be thing to have a life. I don't deal with sex or love with them because they are too young but the sad fact is that many fat little girls will stay within themselves for the rest of their lives because all they ever hear is kids and then grownups who should know better using such abusive language towards them.
