otherwise you are probably working in something like "sales" or "affiliate admin".. which does not involves selling porn at all..
but to make a good paysite you need to have an idea of the business and what surfers want.. if you don't watch porn and you don't have any idea of most pornstar names, then you are probably in the wrong business.. or like i said above. you are employed in some sponsor.
I am very surprised to see that most most people here, don't know most famous pornstars, that's something i just cannot understand.

I totally agree with you on this. I am also quite surprised myself to see that so many people are not really into porn all that much. Hell, I started looking at porn when I was a little kid and became hooked from that day on. Porn has always been a pretty big part of my life. I remember back in the day (early to mid 90s) I used to always go to the porn shops to buy magazines and to rent videos. I used to always tell my friends that one day, I would be working in porn. Of course, I could not prove to my friends that it would ever happen but the feeling was so powerfull and assuring to me that I KNEW for myself that I would happen. I now work full time in the adult industry and it is my only source of income and has been for years now.
The first time I logged onto the internet was back in the year of 1999. I remember, I had one of those fucking WebTvs.

Hell, I didn't care though. I was able to surf the porn sites and I was also able to check out as many porn pictures and videos as I could! That was totally awesome....and it still is for me. I remember when I got my first computer too. That was an awesome experience. Shit man, once I bought a computer, I never looked back to WebTv! I remember thinking to myself quite often...."if these guys can run adult paysites and make money from them then why can't I do it too"? I couldn't stop thinking about it. That's when I started getting real serious about it. I taught myself the basics of html coding, internet marketing, search engine optimization, arranging photo shoots with girls, building promo galleries of my content, affiliate management, link exchanging/networking with other webmasters, running traffic generating campaigns....among many other things. As of today, I run several adult websites (ADP Models...being my main site) and of course, I shoot all of my own content. I also update it with new and fresh content every week. The site currently has a 23,000 alexa rank so the traffic is definately coming in....and that's for a paysite. I have also performed in over 100 adult videos for various production companies....so yeah, I have learned quite a bit but you never stop learning. I am always looking to gain additional knowledge relating to the adult industry and running a paysite as a one man operation with no outsourcing whatsoever. You can never learn too much.
When I started my paysite, I asked myself these questions...
#1. what would be (in my opinion) the perfect paysite to join?
#2. what would the content be like?
#3. what would the girls look like?
#4. would the girls be young, old, white, black, asian?
#5. would there be softcore, hardcore....or both?
#6. how big would the pictures enlarge to after clicking onto the thumbnailed versions?
#7. how would the members area be laid out in regards to navigating throughout it?
#8. what would be in the members area?...pictures, videos....or both?
.....among many other questions that were in my mind. And that's exactly what I did. I built a paysite that was perfect for ME....and I just figured, "if people like it then they like it and if they do not then they do not". Of course, I wanted as many people to like it as possible (and it seems that there are alot of people that do like it) but the point that I am making is that if I had never been a consumer of porn myself, I probably would'nt have had an understanding as clear as the understanding that I had before I launched my paysite. So yes, I totally agree that being a consumer of porn does help alot. I don't want people getting the wrong idea though....I am not saying that you MUST be a regular consumer of porn to know what works but I do feel that it most definately helps in a very big way.
