It made me wonder. As a civil libertarian I see their points but once again its impossible for a child to fully understand the ramifications of "consent". But at the same time, making a universal age limit on sexual consent is ridiculous. Everyone is an individual and someone of age 16 may be far more mature and capable of making decisions and choices than someone of far older.
I'm not saying this applies to 9 year old kids here, but thought the episode brought up some interesting points. My main business is the teen market and of course everything I do is legit 18+. I have to wonder how much of my traffic is actually seeking teens younger than 18.
So, anyone else see it?

In other societies, children are introduced to sex, frequently by close relatives, at an early age. (Of course, in many of those societies the average age at death is much lower, too.) However, in these societies, little harm is done. What does the harm in our society? Primarily it is guilt and shame brought on by our social attitudes toward incest and sex with young people. Now, I'm not saying those attitudes are wrong in any way, but it does make society the actual primary abuser, not the person having sex with the child. Certainly, there is an age where someone is too young to have sex because they don't fully understand what is happening, but society must set an age, and 18 sounds like a pretty good one, though I personally would opt for an older age if I had a choice. I also don't think anyone is really ready for sex until they are well into their 20's, but that doesn't stop 13 and 15 year olds from fooling around with it.
