Who: YOU
What: Buy Nothing Day
Where: Worldwide
When: November, 23rd 2007 - North America (International November, 24th 2007)
Why: Buy Nothing Day is an informal day of protest against consumerism observed by social activists. It was founded by Vancouver artist Ted Dave and subsequently promoted by the Canadian Adbusters magazine. The first Buy Nothing Day was organized in Vancouver in September of 1992 "as a day for society to examine the issue of over-consumption." While critics of the day charge that Buy Nothing Day simply causes participants to buy the next day. Adbusters states that it "isn't just about changing your habits for one day" but "about starting a lasting lifestyle commitment to consuming less and producing less waste."

Its Simple. Even the Dumb Kids Can Do It.
On November 23rd, 2007 do not buy a single thing. Do not eat out. Do not buy gasoline. Do not shop for gifts. Do not buy groceries. Do not buy a condom. Do not buy duplicate keys for your house. Do not buy a house. Do not buy a bottle of water. Do not buy a thumbtack. Buy nothing. Not a single thing. Absolutely nothing.
