Actually, I think it was Alice In Chains that said it best when they said God was "The Man In A Box". You take him out when you need him, which normally means on the brink of death or (quite commonly) incarcerated. As soon as the death or parole is out of the way, you can put the man back until you need him again.
Waiting for God to save you is for stupid weak people that don't have enough sense to sort out their own problems, so they think some invisible man will do it for them!
How stupid is that?
