Okay, Lenny, let's stop and think about it for a bit.
Are you familiar with what a parable is? They are stories with a message, like Aesop's Fables. They are not "facts." Jesus and the other OT writers told them.
Take Jonah and the whale. No one really believes that some guy lived in the belly of a fish for three days and survived. But guess what? Jesus was in a tomb for three days. Coincidence? I think not.
Let's go back to the Garden of Eden and Creation. Darwin was not born until the 1800's, and came up with the theory of evolution until the mid-1800's. So how the fuck was some guy that was trying to describe how the earth was created 2,000 years (or more) beforehand supposed to describe it?
If one were to suggest that the earth orbited around the sun, instead of the other way around he would be dragged outside to the nearest rock quarry and stoned to death.
Think of the OT as Aesop's Fables for the religious. It might make it easier on you.
