In 2004, the US Marines launched an assault that neutralized a very large pocket of resistance in the Iraqi town of Fallouja. This photo became famous as a symbol of that experience:

Regardless of where you stand on this conflict, I hope we can all agree that post-conflict services for our veterans need more focus and assistance.
