50 long years ago today the world was made a better place with Farrell Timlake was born. I, along so many others, have been blessed with knowing Farrell and being counted amongst his many friends.

Tonight some of us gathered in Seattle to give him a surprise birthday party to celebrate his half century mark and to witness him in all his 50 years of glorious existence. Please join us in celebrating the big ?5? ?0? with this man who was born when the cold war was just heating up and Ike was in office.

To give everyone a better understanding of the world of 50 years ago here are a few things that happen in November 1957 that I got off Wiki.

November 1 - The Mackinac Bridge, the world's longest suspension bridge between anchorages at the time, opens to traffic connecting Michigan's two peninsulas.
November 3 - Sputnik program: The Soviet Union launches Sputnik 2. On board is the first animal to enter space - a dog named Laika.
November 6 - Jailhouse Rock opens nationally and Elvis Presley continues to gain more notoriety.
November 7 - Cold War: In the United States, the Gaither Report calls for more American missiles and fallout shelters. A F-3 tornado rips through Alexardia, LA, killing 3 people.
November 13 - Invention of the laser by Gordon Gould. - Flooding in the Po River valley of Italy leads to the flooding also in Venice.
November 14 - Apalachin Meeting - The leaders of the American Mafia meet at a convention in Apalachin, New York at the house of Joseph Barbara. It is broken up by a curious patrolman.
November 15 - Plane crash in the Isle of Wight leaves 43 dead.
November 16 - Serial killer Edward Gein murders his last victim, Bernice Worden of Plainfield, Wisconsin. Oklahoma celebrates its 50th anniversary of statehood. Notre Dame beats the Oklahoma Sooners 7-0 to end the Sooners record 47 straight college football winning streak.
November 25 - U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower has a stroke.
November 30 - Grenade attack against Indonesian president Sukarno in Cikini School in Jakarta. Six children are killed, Sukarno survives unscathed.

Hard to believe that when Farrell Timlake was born, such modern ideas like ?sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads? was not even a thought since lasers weren?t even invented for another 4 days.

Congrats on 50 great long years Farrell and I hope the next 50 are even better.
