3 months ago almost to the day, I made a lifestyle change. I no longer eat red meat, pork and I only eat chicken/turkey if it's mixed into something. I no longer can eat chunks of meat, as I personally am turned off by it now.

I weight train 4 days a week (isolated groups 3 days, and circuit on the 4th), I do 30-45 mins on the elliptical machine 5 days a week and I monitor my diet closely. I consume no more than 1840 calories a day (this include 6 meals a day), I drink no less than 8 glasses of water a day. Most of my caloric intake is fruits, veggies, bean and soy based products, fish and grains.

To make a long story short, I went from 188 lbs to 159. Not only am I dropping weight, but I am putting the muscle on. Sure our approach is a bit different, but if you stick to this, you'll be in amazing shape within a few months. I can only imagine what a full year of training like this will do for me.
people that are really serious about actually getting fit should clone this sort of regimen.

fact is, staying in shape long term requires real effort and only 2-5% will be able to do it long term.

people need to understand that manufactured food in the civilized world is created for profit---focus groups and market testers make food that TASTE GOOD so you will buy it.

the foods that are the best for your body usually don't taste as good as dreyer's ice cream.

so more than anything else, it is a WILL POWER thing to stay healthy.
