I did the entire program from a to z myself, too... and for me, the worst part was after I gave up the patch. My body finally realized it was getting no more nicotine, and threw a hissy-fit for a few days... still a lot better than the month of pain I endured while gong through my "cold turkey" experiment... I figure, at that point, I was less dependent on the drug, so it was easier. When the time comes, just stick to your guns, surround yourself with people that love you... and you should be fine, man. No reason to have to start all over again.

Yeah, it helps, but it's only a tool much in the same way that a life-jacket's a tool that might help you swim the English Channel. You still gotta be of the mindset and have the determination to get it done. If you decide to get it done, good luck... in my experience, life's a much more rewarding experience with a nicotine addiction under control. Set a reasonable date, plan to avoid bars and maybe drinking for awhile, and stick to it.
I should also mention that I always have a moment to spare for peeps that are quitting and wouldn't mind someone to talk to for whatever reason... so anyone in that boat shouldn't hesitate to hit me up.
