Try to picture that in your mind... At 500 mph, wings of that length wouldn't have the time nor ability to react in any way but to sheer off.. especially when you have the two huge engines attached to them.. No way those 6 ton engines, traveling that fast, and designed to break away from the plane on any impact, can just change directions instantly and get pulled into a hole a number of feet from where they hit.. I just can't see that happenin' ..
Its difficult to imagine yes. I am not a expert in thermal dynamics but what I have witnessed with high explosives and projectiles with extreme kenetic energy. The oddest things happen. Water that can cut through 3 inch steel, copper plate turned into motlen projectile in less then a milisecond, air pressure that can pop the top of a tank off like a jack in the box. This is possible.
