Most of the imports into the US is crap that no one really needs, we'll just have to stop buying imported shit and buy local products and this will strengthen our economy in the long run.

I'm not sure what kind of production powerhouse you think the US is today, no matter how low the US dollar is it will still be cheaper to manufacture overseas. Three words, "Made In China". The US is a bigger consumer than producer, if the US dollar tanks the US still gets hit the hardest.
A little economics 101, if you (or a country) are holding onto a sum of currency, and that currency becomes worth less to the rest of the world. You now have less currency which is a blow to the economy especially for countries like the US that rely so heavily on foreign imports. |
