Cops and paramedics tend to put stock in the full moon effect perhaps because they are the ones who have to deal directly with the lunatic fringe on a daily basis.

With all due respect ASM, I don't think stats always reveal an accurate assessment of the phenom. I tend to give more weight to anecdotal stories from those who closely work closely with people on the street at all hours of the day and night.

But that's just me.

I have a lot of cop buddies I talk to on a daily basis, many of whom I consider highly intelligent and not prone to exaggeration or embellishment. And some of the stories I hear about their experiences during full moon cycles always makes me pause to think.

Our local police department sometimes puts additional manpower on shift during full moon phases, just to handle the anticipated weirdness and additional incident calls.

You mentioned in one of your replies about "supernatural". I don't put it in that sort of category, though. I think if anything...its purely scientific - having to do with the minute effects of lunar gravitational effect on the fluids in the brain.

I often work a nightshift myself and see a correlation between the lunar cycle and the mentality/attitudes of people I encounter during the course of the evening.
