I chewed a raw habanero pepper on a dare once. I seriously thought I was going to die.. broke out in a heavy sweat when it kicked in. The pain was something else, it lasted for 5 minutes, and then my mouth went numb, like novocain numb.
Took several hours before I could taste anything again.
