these are my two top choice small digi cameras ...
1st leica M8 approx $5500.00 for the 10 mp camera

next is Lumix by Panasonic (as mentioned by Dready)
there are many different models .. for a point and shoot I'd go for the DMC-FX100 12 mp camera approx $400
