Anyone remember Lawn Darts or Jarts as they were commonly called? You would put a ring out in the yard and toss the darts up in the air and try to get them to stick in ring. They were banned back inthe 80's because it seems too many people had bad aim and lots of nasty things happened with them.
My cousin had a set when we were both around 13 or so and one day we were really bored so we made up a game where one person would throw the dart high into the air and the other person would try to get the long sharp metal tip of the dart to stick into a wooden bat. We played for quite a while with no problems and then we started to get tired. My cousin's reflexes must have gotten slow from the heat because he overextended his arm as the dart was coming down and rather than catch the dart on the bat he caught it on the back of his hand. Luckily it stuck in the fleshy part of the hand between the thumb and index finger and not in the back of his hand where the bones are. Needless to say a trip to the hospital was in order. We never saw those lawn darts again
