I got into *huge* trouble with my wife a few months after I first dating her - she lived in the Midwest and I lived on the East Coast, and I didn't send her flowers for Sweetest Day. I had never heard of it in my life, and she didn't believe me. Another friend from the Midwest convinced me it was "real" out there...but she didn't completely believe me until she was visiting me back East the next October. I took her to several drugstores so she could see there were cards for Halloween, Yom Kippur, Boss's Day, Grandparents' Day ---- but not one for Sweetest Day.
Now we live on the west coast where there's not a single Sweetest Day card either - and we laugh about it. Today I got her a "Happy Boss's Day" card, crossed out "Boss" and wrote in "Sweetest" instead.
