This is true. It's also a great way (depending on what company you work for) to get benefits / build credit etc.
For example, over the years some of our guys have left us to become independant webmasters working from home / and some independant webmasters working from home have come to work for us. You can make bank on your own, but no bennies, lenders like employer paychecks better vs independant wages, etc. are reasons it's not bad to have a day job as well.
