Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" is a great piece of music aside from the fact many people are most familiar with a short version of it from "The Exorcist".
It is haunting, melodic, ethereal, at times melancholic, and other times uplifting. In short the full piece is quite epic.

If you think that is long, the original album version clocks in at nearly 50 minutes.
What is special about this version is the cast of musicians - Fred Frith, Steve Hillage, and Mick Taylor (the guy Ron Wood replaced in the Rolling Stones), all masters of their instruments, and musician's musicians.
BTW, Oldfield recorded the original album with himself playing most of the instruments. It was also the
very first album released by Virgin Records.
