Ah damn - similar interest - you definately need to retire to have enough time for that or do it full-time

Had a friend who spent most of his life as a film historian (since died) and it took him to some interesting places and meeting all kinds of people. One project (part of book research), was on Joseph Goebbels - the "master of propaganda" and he tracked down the Goebbels family and same with other Third Reich leadership - great insight into how people can be decieved by media - in this case film.
As for the rest - some free time would be nice. Would like to spend some time shooting pics (na - not of exposed human flesh), but more of furry and reptile creatures in their own rainforest/jungle habitat - that takes time and patience. Would also like to actually finish learning to fly and get a license - tried three times so far, but diverted to other things.
Not sure about the travelling element - unless there is a purpose, but could spend a year in the heart of South America (Amazon basin) and easy a year in Africa - just different worlds.
