The problem is that the game advance is not determined by how much time you play but by how much time you pay for the game account.
In other games, if you play let's say one hour per day, you can advance to level X in Y days.
In EVE you just buy the skills and instead of time played they need real time to develop... for example, in order to manage big ship you need 20 days of training. This means your account must be active for 20 days, no matter if you play one hour or 100 hours during these 20 days.
Want to be the big guy in EVE and boost your ego? Buy 100k million space credits for several bucks (chinese sell them really cheap) and buy all the skills you want. Just keep the account active and log every day during 10 minutes to buy and train new skills. After about 6 or 7 months you will have one very skilled pilot and you will be able to buy yourself a very big ship to brag around...
