Combined with some clever scripting, this could actually have potential. One could do the following:
1.) when the visitor visits your webpage, record his IP
2.) he leaves for whatever reason
3.) scripts waits x amount of time, sends the visitor a message about free trial, lowered price or whatever
4.) he gets back to your site, you use the script to change the page to give him the incentive descibed in the sent message
So basically would work like a true delayed pop up.
