Something that can happen is this... Some "spammers" will send .html format emails with images on the email page. These images are "served" from the spammer's server.
What they sometimes do is, send out a MASS emailing to randomly generated usernames @ valid domain names. When an email is opened with images from the spammer, the spammer's server can log this "view" of the images and they can tell that it is a VALID email address.
Then you get added to every other spam list out there, and it will never stop. They will hunt you down to give you more credit card offers, and to refinance your home. I swear I get more NON-adult spam than I do adult spam.
In any case, if this is a possibility, I suggest changing, not opening emails unless you know the person it's coming from.
