For webmasters in Europe the euro/dollar exchange is a bit more dramatic that you think.
For example... Your sponsor sends you 1.400 USD (at the current exchange rate that's 1.000 euro). The check takes two weeks (more or less) to arrive to Europe, plus it sits on the webmaster desk about one more week till his secretary/accountat/himself go tot he bank and clear the check. during that time the USD has gone even down, so the webmaster gets 980 euro instead of 1.000 as he would have got the same day the check was issued. Now sum several average checks of 2.000 - 3.000 USD from his main sponsors, and you get the idea. He is losing about 200 - 300 euro/month while the checks travel to his office.
Sure 300 euro per month is not much money, but it's 3600 euro per year, or one month of an employee salary. So, by getting the checks in euro he will have enough money to hire someone during a month.
