Not necessarily, in a lot of states, the statute of limitations on crimes against children do not begin until they turn 18.

So, depending upon what state this is, if it's 7 years, then you're cool, but if it's 12 years, you have 5 more years to sweat...seriously.

Georgia HB 410 (2002)

Removes the statute of limitations for prosecution of murder, felony murder, kidnapping, rape, certain child victim or aggravated sex crimes. Also removes the statute of limitations for armed robbery when forensic DNA evidence establishes the identity of the perpetrator and usable evidence is successfully preserved.
