And to answer your question - back when I smoked - no, I wouldn't have quit in those circumstances.
If/when you quit, it can't be for another person... it's gotta be for yourself - or the whole thing'll come back and bite you in the ass in multiple ways, I'd imagine.
If you do really want to hook up with her, let her know... and maybe also let her know that while you may quit at some point in the future, doing it "for her" would handicap the relationship in a way that you wouldn't want it to. Offer to revisit the idea at another time.... sounds like you got your whole life in front of you, man.
