Riddle me this - they've been married since 2004, then in June 2007 she already KNEW she was in danger of deportation and they haven't applied for her to get status through the marriage?

I am in the military and was in a similar situation, and instead of doing nothing about my wife's immigration status, I did what was required by law and filed the appropriate paperwork. She is now a legal, permanent resident and we no longer have to worry. I don't understand what is so difficult about filing the paperwork to become a resident. We have free legal counsel available to us. There is really no excuse except for the procrastination to not do the right thing.
