I agree that personal preference does make a huge difference. I wasn't brought up on Glock though, I tested just about every handgun available at the Beverly Hills range in LA before I went with the glock and that meant the best sigs, hk, berreta, desert eagle etc. (9mm, .40, .45, .50) available at the time.
I also used to have a chinese AK and a galil, uzi pistol, and some others - probably had the most fun cutting through things like engine blocks in the desert with my AK though.
