We've been selling on eBay for around a year now and trying various strategies. Here's some strategies that have helped us:

- the better quality pictures will make for a more successful auction and as the other person mentioned here (good advice), pay the 25 cents and depending on the cost of the item, consider the bolded or highlighted or featured as well. Gift icon is good too if your item is brand new and/or would make a good gift.
- describe the item honestly, do not lie about it being mint condition if it is not in *mint* condition
- learn the jargon by stopping the by ebay chat board, asking questions, and studying other listings in similar categories you want to list items in
- make sure you collect/charge enough for shipping (watch out for postage outside the continental US) and add a little bit (do not go overboard) for handling. This is a good way to snag an extra bone or few.
- use the advanced search option before listing and see what similar or the exact item you are selling went for in the auction. It is also important to analyze what category to list your items in since there are so many, many different categories.

Hope this helps ;)
