Did it have the red hourglass? We you able to discern it in the goo?
look for an egg sac somewhere in the area... looks like a small white ball of webbing.
If you find any, destroy the hell outta it, too.... else you might have a few hundred more of those things running amuck at some point in the future.
hell, might just wanna cleanse the whole area with holy fire to be on the safe side.
