Though I didn't say they would or should, just said its not a serious debate/info without the following.
About MySQL 4.* - I wouldn't recommend moving to that on mission critical servers yet. True that query cache and subqueries are nice addition for read-intensive application, but its not yet marked for release so be patient. If one wants to test it go ahead.
