So it's not going to happen. At best Russia and China would try to help support Iran with arms sales. However in reality they wouldn't be able to help much.

China might stay away and silent to protect its economy, but Russia will never let the US that close to its borders, a US military base in Iran is a NO NO, Russia let its own men die in the nuclear submarine accident than to let any international entity or US entity help extract the submarine with its secrets
Russia is not a poor country, on the contrary it is very rich and powerful, and even if it was not, it will have no choice but to support Iran in full 100% and will not rest until the USA is far away from the Russian borders, like you said, this could very well mean WWIII as USA has lots of european support from France and the UK
I hope things still calm and US does not try anything funny with Iran, it is really a very difficult situation specially since the US will never accept Iran having nukes !!
Guess it is already time for WWIII, let us hope i will become the next Ramon Avramovitch after this war
