If the US approaches Iran, you are talking about a MASSIVE war involving Russia most definitely with Iran on one side (Both are well respeced forces specially Russia) and probably China might join them.

Sorry but the US is China's biggest customer. China wont risk it's new found economic power to stick up for Iran. Russia can barely afford to keep their military active, much less pay for a war somewhere else.
On the odd chance that both China and Russia joined forces to help Iran.. well most of Europe and our allies would help the US. Something like that would mean another world war.
So it's not going to happen. At best Russia and China would try to help support Iran with arms sales. However in reality they wouldn't be able to help much.
