And had Bush and Cheney done their fucking jobs that they were selected to do, instead of cowering away in a bunker or flying around burning the taxpayer's dollars in Air Force One, the only thing we would have known about Rudy was they he stood behind the president while he made his dumb, stuttering speeches at ground zero.

The only reason Rudy is so well known today is because for those few days and hours, he was the closest thing this country had to a president. He was there, behind the microphone, talking. Bush, instead of doing anything worthwhile, sat in a classroom reading a book to a bunch of kids upside down. God, what an embarrassment he was to this country at that moment and it was all downhill from there.

Imagine that if you had a dog that you dearly loved and while you were entertaining foreign royals from another country, the dog came into the room and shit all over the buffet table in front of everyone, completely ruining the evening. What would you do? Of course, after the mess was cleaned up, you'd have the dog put down at the next opportunity. Thats what the GOP should have done with Bush and Dick. Put them - and us - out of misery. But no one here has any guts, not enough sense to do the right thing.
