If I could snap my fingers and every member of the armed forces from every country on Earth would drop dead I would do it in the blink of an eye. The world would be infinitely better without them.

I mentioned nothing about patriotism or fighting for their country in my post. I have railed against mindless nationalism to control a population. My post had nothing to do about causes or country. I am against this particular war. It was describing your ignorant stereotype of everyone in the military.
I'm sorry that listing names of famous military men doesn't impress you. I could name hundreds more from virtually every country. Truth is, many of the greatest men and women who shaped the world have served in the military at one time or another for their country. Some never fought in a single war, while others were in battle. Nonetheless, it is there to show the ignorance of your statement that everyone in the military is a white trash scumbag. A large percent of the people in this world that matter have served in their country's military.
But the irony in your statements is what gets a chuckle from me. For such a peaceful person such as yourself who hates all war and fighting, it is odd you'd take such pleasure in the death of other people. Odder yet that you'd support the mass genocide of anyone who has signed up for military duty.
You did miss the entire point of my earlier post. Our military is not filled with gung-ho mercenaries who want to blow off the heads of people. They are filled with everyday, normal 18-22 year olds. Kids who couldn't afford college or needed to help support a family. If you went to college, you probably were friends with people in the National Guard who needed the money to pay their tuition bills. They are not "killing machines" and they would rather be home with their friends and family than fighting in a war. They don't decide what wars we fight, or what causes they fight for. They were too young to learn that our governments don't always tell us the truth. Blame the government for sending them off to war for reasons you dont' agree with. But don't stereotype every person who has joined the military because you saw Jarhead last night on HBO.
