Jacob's Ladder (for me) is about his struggle to survive on the surgeon's table, and the demons are death coming to take him away. Everything is all freaky because he is convinced that death is awful and scary, and the chiropractor is indeed an angel trying to free him from his life and aid him is his travel through death.

I love creepy movies like that but for me they don't fit into the genre of horror.

For horror, what really gets me is there aren't very many that I feel are well done. I think this is because I like movies that move beyond simple jump scares and give you a twisted mind fucking.
