i don't know what the fuck SilkyJohnson is talking about - why would Oden be guarding PF's? he's a center and in an NBA bereft of quality centers even in his rookie year he'd be in the Top 10. he's only 19, he took Ohio St to the NCAA championship game with an injured hand.
i feel bad for Portland fans - i would be sick if this happened to my team, there's nothing more fun for a hardcore fan of a beleaguered franchise than a top draft pick you're hoping is the start of a better future.
hope this isn't going to be an injury jinxed career for him.

Exactly.
I don't however believe this makes him an injury prone player. In fact, some times injuries like this are good for guys such as him. He has taken a beating his entire life, occasionally, a string of months off heals not only the injury, but the body in general.
Ever notice how a guy in the NBA will get hurt for a season and then come back on fire? They get their legs back and they tend to focus on basics.
Not saying this will be the scenario for Oden, but I am saying it isn't the end of the world. Yet.
