| If a root canal is done properly you wont feel anything in the tooth afterwards, pain or otherwise.  I had a root canal done last thursday and the tooth itself doesnt hurt, just the gums around the temporary....
 Did the dentist remove the nerve from the tooth?  Usually they use a metal file that looks like a few inches of twisted wire, and if you're feeling pain inside a tooth that has been root canaled, it may be a bit of the file left behind, or some nerve that didnt get removed.  If thats the case, you need to go back in.
 
 Either way, I've never had a root canal that really hurt after a handfull of advil and a nap. I'd go see someone if its still hurting the next day.
