I worked about 20 blocks away at the time. I was getting off the subway in the morning to one of the most beautiful days I can remember. I didn't know it at the time, but it had just happened a few minutes earlier and there was some commotion in the area and firetrucks zooming by me, heading downtown.
I found out from the front desk girl when I got into the office. My company had something big going on that day, so my Jew boss didn't want to acknowledge what was going on and told everyone to get back to work. We were like "fuck that" and stayed glued to the TV in the break room. Even after the we watched the towers go down, it still took him a half hour before it set in that the world needed to stop for a while, and he sent us home.
Getting home back to Connecticut from Manhattan was another adventure I won't get into.
