How does the competition work?

How did the final 20 sponsors get selected ?
The orignal 320 sponsors were suggested by affiliates and site owners of those companies in threads I started like this one:
https://gfy.com/it/745754-sponsors-check-name-list.html I collected 320 sponsors and broke them into 16 groups of 20 in alphabetical order. The remaining 4 sponsors came from the wildcard spots which consisted of the sponsors who had the highest amount of votes that did not win their group.
