What fools they are. Everyone who is upset with them should call them on their toll-free line (do they still have it?) and stick it on speaker and let it go.
The companies I have worked at (or managed phone systems for) always put in a rule to drop calls after 30 to 60 mins of uninterrupted hold time, so that people cannot call and just sit there and run the phone bill up. Sure, most companies pay a couple of cents a minute for WATS these days, but if you piss off enough people and they decide to cost you some money, they can all just call in and sit there on hold and run your bill up. 24 trunks @ $0.029 / min with 36/6 billing will cost $0.69 a minute, or $41.76 an hour. If people do this every day just from 10 PM to 6 AM, thats 8 hours and it will run them $334.08 a day just for their night time phone bill. Or, $10,022.40 a month. And if they have a bad rate on thier long distance, i.e. did not shop around and are still paying a dime a minute or even a nickle, haha, they'd better bend over.
