Well, after watching the clip, it LOOKED like he realized what he said RIGHT as he said it and knew it wasn't appropriate. To me, that's forgivable. I'm not aware of anyone who hasn't made a slip before.
Now, had he ranted on the subject ala Michael Richards or gotten a laugh and continued on, then he'd have some explaining to do.
Had he dropped the N word however, I have NO doubt that Al Sharpton would have been all over it within hours. Unfortunately, people of his ilk don't realize that while their intentions may be good, they're actually creating further animosity amongst different races.
