That doesn't happen on death row. You are seperated from everyone and spend 23 hours a day in your cell. When will pro-death people get this? I'd much rather be sentenced to death than serve life without parole. Easy call to make. So no he won't be shanked or raped or anything. Remember if Jeffrey Dahmer had been sentenced to death he'd most likely would still be alive to day. And getting a needle in the arm is certainly more prefered than getting beaten to a pulp with a metal weightlifting bar until you die.
