the concept of tipping is totally fucked - these people are employed by somebody, they should be paid what their job is worth by their fucking employer - if a customer is really pleased with how they were treated they can tip the employee whatever they want - whether it's 5% or 50%.
why don't you tip the nurse at the doctor's office? why not tip your auto mechanic? why not tip the cable repairman? they are providing a service no?
because people believe those people are being paid a fair wage for the job they do. well let Domino's pay their drivers a fair wage, let all restaurants pay their waiters, busboys and dishwashers a fair wage - charge whatever price you want for the fucking pizza to cover the cost, just don't make me responsible for directly paying your employees. I shouldn't have to pay anything extra to insure prompt and good service.

I didn't say he was poor, and my comment wasn't nearly as inflammatory as you are making it sound. It was a generalization.
$5 isn't going to change my day at all, so to have someone provide me with a task I don't want to do myself, is worth the $5.
Having money to spend, and not being able to part with acouple of dollars makes as much sense as a eunich with a harem.
Tipping in general is an odd concept, but in my experience, tipping is incentive for beeter service. The shittiest service I've ever had was in places where gratutity/VAT was added in.
