There are serious limitations to their software that doesn't allow more than (are your ready) about 60 people to be in one area at one time. most of the "commercial" areas of the site are vacant. Plus, they are just like websites. You can't just walk around and browse, you have to teleport yourself to a site (sort of like surfing the web) and then teleport to a new location when you want to move.

Check wired online for an interesting article... the people making the money are the ones designing the worlds for clueless big name companies that have been BSed into thinking secondlife is anything important.
