Here's what I looked like in 1979. I was a hardcore surfer back then and all surfers had long hair. Disco was getting big and every guy tried to look like John Travolta. I stood out like a sore thumb in the clubs and 99.9% of the time that was a good thing.
Having long hair also taught me about stereotype and prejudice. Narrow minded people often judged me solely by the style of my hair and it taught me to have an open mind when judging others. One of my favorite posters back in that day was a picture of Albert Einstien and it said " It's not the style of the hair that counts it's what's under it " Words to live by.
BTW my parents disapproved of the long hair but allowed me to find my own way. I'll always be grateful for that.
