my advice is go for it!
You will know in 1-2 years if you can survive in adult. I didn't know shit, squat, jack when I started almost 5 years ago, (still learning something new each week
) so I spent 8-10 hours a day researching and learning. My break came by forming partnerships in the industry. There is no substitute for free advice from people with experience. I learned the majority from trial and error but I wouldn't give that up for the world. I have met some great friends and "celebrities" that I never would have doing the 9-5 thing.
If you are only here because you have $$ in your eyes, you will probably be gone by next year. To get you foot planted in this industry you will work an average of 10-12 hours a day. Shooting your own content expect to cough up 50K your first year for expenses, (add 10K for video and photo editing if you can't do it yourself and another 10K for web design, galleries, etc...)
