I read that the only 2 deaths in Lima were because of heart attacks.
The other +500 deaths and +1500 injured are in Pisco, Chincha and Ica. A couple of churches, hospitals and a prison collapsed (+600 imates escaped).

Most of the buildings here in Lima are made to withstand earthquakes. Lots of houses in the south at the epicentre of the quake were made out of adobe bricks and collapsed.
